Difference between prestressed concrete and reinforced concrete :

High-Strength Steel and Concrete for Prestressed Concrete:

Experiments and research have proved that pre-reinforced concrete requires high strength steel and high strength concrete. Soft steel was used in initial experiments but it could not yield successful results as the stress of soil steel, which is about 120 N/mm2, is completely eliminated after some time. The depletion of soft steel goes up from 100 to 240 N/mm2. If this decline has to be reduced, the strength of steel should be higher initially. It has been found to be advisable to use high strength steel with 1200 to 2000 N/mm2 strength. 
High strength concrete is also a requirement that must be in pre-reinforced concrete as the substances of this concrete generate high class resistance. High strength concrete immunity is significantly higher in tensile, bond and bearings.
Precast Concrete:
Its components are a mixture of high strength steel and high strength concrete. In comparison, precast concrete is prepared using soft steel and normal concrete.
" Precast concrete is a construction product whose structure is cast by casting concrete in mold or form. It is then treated in a controlled environment, transported to the construction site and lifted and installed in place."
Precast components are commonly produced at its plant called precast plant.
Applications of precast concrete:

  •  Cladding on some part or all of the building. 
  • Creating a precast panel. 
  • Placing protective covers on free-standing walls such as landscaping, soundproof walls, security walls, etc.

Advantages and disadvantages of precast concrete construction:

Advantages:-

  • Performed the installation at a much faster pace.
  • Quality level can be controlled at a high level.
  • The entire building can be installed with precast walls, floor and beams etc.
  • Quick construction can be done on site.
  • Pre-stressing can be done easily, which can be completed by structural members of low size and number.

Disadvantages :

  • Structural members are high.
  • Beams and slabs have camber.
  • The margin is too low to correct errors.
  • There is difficulty in making connections.
  • Size is limited so precast concrete cannot be used in a three-way structural system.
  • Joint joints of panels are usually expensive and complex in nature.
  • Cranes have to be used.

prestressed concrete- definition and theory 

    Definition :

                        Pre-reinforced concrete is a specially formulated concrete in which the reinforced steel bars are pulled and applied into the concrete and compressed (anchored) concrete to increase the strength and resistance of the concrete. 

Merits of Prestressed concrete

  • Pre-compression techniques prevent all types of stage cracks in concrete
  • In this type, because the cracks do not occur, there is less possibility of corrosion of steel and deformed concrete. 
  • This concrete structures have more capacity to bear the vibrations, vibrations, shock shock etc.
  • Pre-stressing concrete and using curved tendons in it prevents shearing in concrete.
  • The quantity of steel is reduced to 1/3 for the former stress, but its cost of steel is high. The reason for this is the use of high tensile strength steel.
  • Pre-reinforced concrete holdings have less deflection.

Demerits of Prestressed concrete 

  • Pre-reinforced concrete should be of high quality, compact, high strength, with the best properties of shielding and compaction.
  • High tensile strength steel is used, which is 2.5 to 3.5 times more expensive than mild steel.
  • The work style of this concrete requires more supervision for the construction work.
